John

Piano/Vocals

Hi, I’m John! I’ve been playing piano since I was 10 and singing for as long as I can remember. My musical background is strongly rooted in classical technique, having studied singing with Michael Fulcher and piano with Jessica Earle. I use this classical foundation as a baseline for my students, giving them strong technique that can be applied to any genre they’re interested in.

I spent over 10 years singing in my church parish choir, and now work as a cantor for church services, weddings, and funerals across Melbourne. Alongside my classical work, I’m actively involved in the contemporary scene, singing regularly with Hannah and the Heartstrings and Drew Downing. After completing my Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts at Monash University, I’ve been increasingly focused on contemporary performance, as well as writing and performing my own original music.

I place a strong focus on music theory, aiming to help students develop musical and academic skills alongside broader life skills, including confidence, adaptability, and awareness of how the voice works in different contexts. I’m excited to teach and support students through lessons that balance strong technique and music theory with creativity, enjoyment, and very importantly, fun!
